Join the expanding team at HDM Engineering – a leading UK manufacturer of bespoke baling and recycling machinery. We're on the lookout for an experienced Mechanical Fitter with strong hands-on experience in conveyors, hydraulics, and baling systems to support our workshop and on-site operations in Rochdale.

You’ll play a key role in the assembly, installation, maintenance, and servicing of our energy-efficient recycling machinery, including textile and waste balers, conveyors, and hydraulic systems. From interpreting technical drawings to commissioning on-site installations, this is a varied and rewarding position within a skilled and supportive team.

Responsibilities:

• Assemble, fit, and install conveyor and baling machinery in our workshop
• Carry out fault-finding, servicing, and repairs on mechanical and hydraulic systems
• Read and work from engineering drawings with high attention to detail
• Perform basic metalworking tasks (e.g., drilling, tapping, welding prep)
• Conduct inspections to ensure all work meets HDM’s quality standards
• Support machinery moves, upgrades, and custom installations
• Ensure all work is performed safely, adhering to company procedures

What we're looking for:

• Time-served mechanical fitterwith at least3+ years’ experience
• Strong background inhydraulics, power transmission, and mechanical fitting
• Hands-on experience withrecycling machinery or baling systemspreferred
• Ability to work from detailed technical drawings
• Knowledge ofmechanical properties, fault diagnosis, and component-level repair
• Team playerwith the ability to work independently when needed
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
