Mechanical Fitter
Location: North Yorkshire – Commutable from Scarborough, Pickering, Malton, Helmsley and surrounding areas
Permanent | Full-Time | Days

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a leading global engineering business working on highly specialised, technically advanced systems used in extreme environments. Based at their well-equipped facility in North Yorkshire, you’ll be involved in the assembly and testing of complex mechanical and hydraulic equipment.

This role offers long-term career stability, excellent training and a brilliant team culture – ideal for someone with a hands-on background in mechanical assembly, hydraulics, or product testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and assemble hydraulic and mechanical components, including pumps, valves and actuators

  • Set up and run hydrostatic and pressure tests on both internal and external customer equipment

  • Carry out electrical function testing of connectors, PCBs and cable assemblies

  • Create and maintain clear and accurate test reports

  • Read engineering drawings and follow build specifications

  • Maintain workshop standards, housekeeping and health & safety procedures

What We’re Looking For:
  • Previous experience in a mechanical fitting or testing role

  • Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation

  • Comfortable using hand tools, test rigs and workshop equipment

  • Confident producing reports using Microsoft Word and other basic IT tools

  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems, pneumatics, or electrical testing is an advantage

  • Time-served or apprentice-trained candidates preferred
