Job summary

Nufarm Wyke is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to maintain complex equipment and keep production running safely. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance, supporting production and projects, and reducing downtime while upholding company standards across a chemical manufacturing facility.

Ideal candidates will have Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering, CMMS experience (SAP or Oracle EAM), and a hands-on approach with strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices and process safety procedures.
• Experience with CMMS systems (SAP or Oracle EAM) and equipment isolation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance as prescribed.
• Support production and project teams, ensuring work is safe and compliant.
• Minimise downtime and maintain critical equipment across the facility.
• Follow permit to work procedures and safety standards.
• Assist the mechanical shift lead with day-to-day planning.
• Contribute to HSE initiatives and department activities.

In the role of Mechanical Fitter at Nufarm Wyke, you’ll be integral to the reliability and efficiency of our production operations. Your responsibilities will include carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance, supporting production and project teams, and ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company standards. You’ll play a key role in minimising downtime, maintaining critical equipment, and contributing to a safe and high-performing work environment across our chemical manufacturing facility.

How You’ll Help Us Grow

• Ensure that all assigned mechanical maintenance routine, corrective and breakdown maintenance activity plans are carried out as prescribed in compliance with the company permit to work system and procedure, to minimize risk to personnel, the environment and company assets.
• Provide desired services to operating departments at optimal levels in line with departmental planning and scheduling strategies.
• Ensure inter-departmental interface in accordance with company operating standards and requirements. (Mechanical).
• Provide input and support in Competency Based Training for department staff as requested/required.
• Assist the mechanical shift lead with day-to-day planning as required.
• Maintain active department involvement, interface and demonstrated commitment to all company HSE related initiatives and planned activities.

Could This Be You?

We’re looking for a skilled and proactive mechanical fitter with a proven track record in maintaining complex mechanical systems within chemical or process manufacturing environments. You will have Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification with a strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices, process safety procedures, and equipment isolation. Experience working with CMMS systems (such as SAP or Oracle EAM), coordinating with production and project teams, and using standard workshop tools is required. A hands-on approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and teamwork are key to success in this role.

Please note, the working pattern for this role is 3 days on (12 hour shifts) and 3 days off continuous.
