Job summary

Our client in the renewables sector is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join the team in Turriff, Aberdeenshire. The role involves assembling, installing and testing mechanical equipment in line with engineering drawings, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

You will use hand and power tools, interpret drawings, and work with the supervisor to meet project deadlines. The position also includes mentoring apprentices and maintaining a clean, safe workshop per 5S and HSEQ procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have an engineering or trade apprenticeship with good secondary education.
• HNC in Engineering would be advantageous.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and assembly documentation.
• Experience assembling mechanical equipment and using hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install and test mechanical equipment and components per drawings; ensure safety and high standards.
• Operate hand and power tools confidently with quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Supervisor to meet project deadlines and customer requirements.
• Identify defects and report quality issues promptly.

Job description

Our client, a leading company in the renewables sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join their team in Turriff, Aberdeenshire.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, install and test mechanical equipment and components in line with engineering drawings, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard
• Operate hand and power tools confidently while maintaining quality, accuracy and efficiency throughout the build process
• Work closely with your Supervisor and colleagues to ensure project deadlines are achieved and customer requirements are met
• Identify and report any defects, damage or quality issues, ensuring they are communicated and resolved promptly
• Support and mentor apprentices, sharing knowledge and promoting good working practices across the team
• Help maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop by following 5S principles, risk assessments, permit to work systems and company HSEQ procedures

Job Requirements

• A recognised engineering or trade apprenticeship, with good secondary education
• HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering would be advantageous
• Previous experience in a mechanical assembly, manufacturing or workshop environment
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and assembly documentation
• Experience assembling mechanical equipment and working with limits and fits on machined components
• Confidence using hand tools, power tools and heavy workshop equipment, along with measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier gauges and dial indicators
• Experience using manual and hydraulic bolt torquing equipment is desirable
• Knowledge of working with heavy machinery would be preferred
