Mechanical Fitter

Wakefield | £17.00 - £19.00 per hour (DOE) | Permanent Days

Hours: Mon‑Thurs 8:00-16:30, Fri 8:00-15:15

A leading precision engineering company in Wakefield is seeking skilled Mechanical Fitters to join their team on a permanent basis. This role offers the chance to work on special purpose machinery, assembling and installing equipment to the highest quality and safety standards.

The Role
  • Assemble and fit machinery from detailed engineering drawings.
  • Install machinery at customer sites when required.
  • Operate hand tools, lifting equipment, and workshop machinery.
  • Conduct risk assessments and follow strict HSE procedures.
  • Collaborate with client technical teams during installation.
  • Contribute to process improvements and innovation.
About You
  • HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in mechanical assembly, ideally with some electrical/pneumatic knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and machine safety.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in customer‑facing situations.
  • Flexibility to travel when needed.
