Job summary

Winner Recruitment collaborates with a Sheffield manufacturer to recruit a Mechanical Fitter / Machine Builder. You will assemble bespoke machinery from drawings, fit components, and test performance.

This hands-on role requires practical skills in mechanical fitting and assembly within a team, ensuring safe operation and adherence to specifications. From reading drawings to using hand and power tools, you will contribute to installing hydraulic and pneumatic systems and supporting commissioning

Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Fitter or similar role.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with industrial machinery.
• Desirable hydraulics and pneumatics knowledge; welding or fabrication beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and build machinery from engineering drawings.
• Fit mechanical components including bearings, motors, gearboxes, shafts and rollers.
• Install hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Carry out mechanical fault finding, adjustments and repairs.
• Test and inspect machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.

• Support machinery installation and commissioning when required.
• Work closely with fabrication and engineering teams.
• Maintain high standards of quality and health & safety.

MECHANICAL FITTER / MACHINE BUILDER

Location: Sheffield
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £14–£18 per hour
Hours: Monday–Friday, Day Shift

About the Role

Winner Recruitment are working in partnership with a forward-thinking manufacturing business in Sheffield to recruit an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Machine Builder to join their growing engineering team.

This is a hands-on role suited to candidates with a mechanical fitting, machine building, engineering or manufacturing background.

You will be involved in assembling, building and testing bespoke machinery, working from engineering drawings and using a range of hand and power tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble and build machinery from engineering drawings.
• Fit mechanical components including bearings, motors, gearboxes, shafts and rollers.
• Install hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

• Welding or fabrication experience would be beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
