The role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be involved in the inspection, servicing, repair, and overhaul of weapons and armour systems, assemblies, and general mechanical equipment (subject to training and proficiency). Your responsibilities include:

• Diagnosing, inspecting, and assessing weapon systems, vehicles, and associated mechanical, electrical, and armour equipment in line with your skills and competency
• Ensuring all job transactions are accurately recorded and comply with current ERP processes
• Completing vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates or reports to current standards
• Managing stores and equipment issued for jobs, ensuring correct usage and returning faulty or unused materials to supervisors

Please note that the successful candidate will need to pass a medical questionnaire and/or examination. This role involves manual work, including lifting, bending, using tools, and standing for extended periods. It is a full-time position, 37 hours per week, based onsite at Donnington.

Essential experience

• Experience as a gun fitter or armourer is desirable but full training will be provided
• Military service background is preferred (desirable)

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or an apprenticeship qualification

Security Clearance

The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance. Note that some roles are subject to national security and trade restrictions based on nationality, citizenship, and residency.
