Job summary

Westray Recruitment Group are recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for a permanent role in the Teesside area, based in Hartlepool. The role focuses on providing first line mechanical support to two mills on site, with a view to maximise plant availability and minimise downtime.

The successful applicant will work a two-shift rotation, with enhanced overtime opportunities and a pension, sick pay and life insurance benefits.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical apprenticeship ideal.
• Experience in heavy engineering/manufacturing environment preferred.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills on site.

Responsibilities

• Provide first line mechanical support to manufacturing areas to maximise equipment availability.
• Repair deficiencies and ensure robust fixes to prevent recurrence.
• Suggest and implement improvements to plant systems and processes.
• Execute planned maintenance tasks safely and on schedule.
• Maintain equipment such as conveyors, ovens, mills, cranes, welding lines and bearing alignment.

• Hours of work: 2 shift rotation (Mon to Fri 6am-2pm, then Mon to Fri 2pm-10pm)

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for our client based is in the Teesside area.

THE ROLE

• The purpose of the role is to provide first line mechanical support to manufacturing areas to ensure maximum availability of mechanical equipment within the two Mills on site.
• To provide first line mechanical support and assistance to manufacturing areas to minimise plant down time.
• To ensure that any deficiencies found are repaired appropriately and that repairs are robust enough to prevent a recurrence.
• To suggest and implement improvements to plant systems.
• To execute planned maintenance tasks effectively, working through the task schedule in order of priority.
• To conduct all aspects of the job in a safe manner in accordance with company procedures and standards and adhere to statutory and mandatory safety regulation, procedures and policies.
• This role is imperative to effectively maximise plant availability in order to meet annual business objectives and ensure customer satisfaction on delivery performance.
• Working to maintain equipment such as conveyors, ovens, mills, overhead cranes, welding lines, bevelling machines, handling equipment, basic facilities maintenance, etc
• Working with pneumatics and hydraulics, gear boxes, chains, pumps, valves, cylinders, etc
• Lifting and slinging
• Performing bearing alignment

THE PERSON

• A recognised mechanical apprenticeship ideally gained within an industrial environment.
• Experience of working effectively within a team.
• A systematic problem solving approach and ability to understand when and how to ask for support.
• A background in heavy engineering manufacturing.
• Good interpersonal skills and an ability to articulate effectively with a range of individuals on site.
• A sound level of computer literacy
