Job summary

The Exchange is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its engineering team at its site in Runcorn. You will assemble bespoke tooling, fixtures and machinery for automotive applications and may travel to customer sites across the North West.

You will visit customers to discuss requirements, design solutions and take measurements for jigs; manufacture parts with manual and CNC mills/ lathes; and assemble, commission and install equipment both in workshop and on site.

Qualifications

• Engineering-related qualifications required.
• Full UK driving licence may be needed.
• Experience with machinery assembly and installation beneficial.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their engineering team at their site in Runcorn. This role involves assembling bespoke engineering products for the automotive industry, including tooling, fixtures, and machinery. The successful candidate may also be required to attend customer sites across the North West, primarily automotive manufacturing plants.

Key Responsibilities

• Visit customer sites to discuss requirements, design solutions, and take measurements for assembly jigs and related equipment
• Manufacture parts for tooling, jigs, fixtures, and machinery using manual and CNC milling machines and lathes
• Assemble, commission, and install tooling and machinery, both in the workshop and on customer sites

The typical workload is expected to be split as follows

Proven experience producing steel, aluminium, and plastic parts using manual and CNC milling machines and lathes is essential

• Strong understanding of machinery, with experience assembling, modifying, and commissioning equipment
• Engineering-related qualifications and a sound understanding of basic engineering principles
• Full UK driving licence

Experience with tooling fixtures and machinery or equipment used within vehicle production would be beneficial. Previous experience in the automotive industry would also be advantageous.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm. Due to the nature of the role, some flexibility may be required to work outside these hours.

Rate of pay: £39,520 Per Annum

Contract type: Temporary to Permanent
