Our client, a leading ship repair and marine engineering company, is currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for a significant submarine refit project in Plymouth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing maintenance and refitting tasks
  • Conducting regular inspections to ensure optimal performance of mechanical systems
  • Disassembling and reassembling various mechanical components
  • Using technical manuals and schematics to identify and rectify mechanical issues
  • Working closely with engineering teams to implement effective solutions
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with safety and security regulations
  • Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities
  • Operating within a high-security environment, adhering to all relevant protocols

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in mechanical fitting, specifically within the shiprepair sector
  • Qualified as a mechanical fitter
  • Understanding of submarine systems and repair techniques
  • Ability to work in a security-sensitive environment; must be a British national
  • Security Clearance (SC) preferred, though candidates will be considered for clearance if not already held
  • Willingness to work a minimum of 50 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours as required
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
