The role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be involved in maintaining and supporting the Royal Navy's fleet, working on warships, submarines, or within our factories. Your tasks may include:

1. Installing and aligning mechanical equipment
2. Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
3. Conducting tests and surveys
4. Troubleshooting mechanical issues

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, based at Devonport Royal Dockyard. There is an opportunity for Optimised Working Patterns (OWP), involving 4-week shift cycles supporting 7-day working arrangements, with detailed pay and pattern information available from the hiring manager.

Essential Experience

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Operating workshop machinery specific to mechanical fitting
• Experience in marine engineering, especially on Royal Navy ships, submarines, or related vessels
• Removing, installing, and overhauling marine mechanical equipment

Qualifications

• Completion of a marine or naval engineering apprenticeship
• Mechanical discipline apprenticeship or equivalent qualification

Security Clearance

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain SC security clearance, with considerations regarding nationality and residency.
