Job summary

Coates Recruitment is partnering with a well-established manufacturer of specialist industrial electric vehicles to recruit a Mechanical Fitter for their Peterborough workshop. This hands-on role covers building, fitting, servicing and repairing EVs across multiple UK industries.

You'll work with an experienced production team, enjoy overtime opportunities, ongoing training and clear career progression within a growing business.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical fitting or vehicle assembly.
• Experience with 12V and/or 48V vehicle electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose and rectify faults.
• Experience in automotive/forklift/manufacturing industries.
• Welding experience advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble specialist electric vehicles to a high standard.
• Service, maintain and repair vehicles within the workshop.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Work from engineering drawings and job cards.
• Meet production targets whilst maintaining quality standards.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.

Mechanical Fitter – Electric Vehicles

Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

Salary: Circa £35,000 DOE + Bonus and Overtime (OTE £40,000 - £48,000+)

Coates Recruitment is working with a well-established manufacturer of specialist industrial electric vehicles, who are looking to add a Mechanical Fitter to their growing workshop team.

This is a hands-on role where you''ll be involved in building, fitting, servicing and repairing a wide range of electric vehicles used across multiple industries throughout the UK. Working as part of an experienced production team, you''ll receive ongoing training, plenty of overtime opportunities and genuine career progression within a growing business.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble specialist electric vehicles to a high standard.
• Service, maintain and repair vehicles within the workshop.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Work from engineering drawings and job cards.
• Meet production targets whilst maintaining quality standards.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.

Suitable applicants

• Mechanical fitting, vehicle assembly or automotive maintenance experience.
• Experience with 12V and/or 48V vehicle electrical systems.
• Understanding of electrical fault finding and diagnostics.
• Experience in automotive, forklift, plant, agricultural, manufacturing or similar industries.
• Welding experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
