The role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will undertake mechanical fitting activities and conduct operations on our Waterfront systems and equipment. Day-to-day, you’ll ensure completion of all planned preventative maintenance to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.

  • Completion of all defect and repair activity to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
  • Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity and safety in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
  • Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems Of Work and control of work processes in accordance with BM&T Clyde policies.
  • Operate Waterfront systems and equipment in accordance with relevant procedures.

This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

This role is full time 36 hours per week, Monday – Friday with a half day on Friday and is based on site at Faslane.

Essential experience of the Mechanical Fitter

  • Mechanical fitting working experience
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment
  • Experience with interpretating engineering drawings
  • Knowledge or experience in a marine background would be advantageous but not essential

Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter

  • NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent is essential.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
