Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking a Mechanical Fitter in Croydon for a permanent role. The candidate will carry out strip down, inspection, survey, assembly and test of mechanical systems, reading drawings, and fault finding.

Ideal applicants will have four years of mechanical fitting experience in an engineering environment and a time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification. The role offers progression and a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years mechanical fitting, preferably for rotating equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience of working in an engineering environment.
• Time-served apprenticeship or other relevant qualification.

Responsibilities

• Strip down, inspect, survey, assemble and test mechanical systems such as gearboxes, fluid couplings, pumps, couplers, transmissions, cooling units.
• Read and understand drawings, identify components and how the system functions to enable fault finding.
• Work to precise specifications, ensuring accuracy and tolerances using measuring tools like calipers and micrometers.
• Understand correct assembly techniques, e.g. torque tightening methods, shrink fits etc.
• Complete technical documentation clearly and accurately as work progresses.

Job Description

Strip down, inspection, survey, assembly, and test of mechanical systems such as gearboxes, fluid couplings, pumps, couplers, transmissions, cooling units etc.

Ability to read and understand drawings, identifying components and how the system functions to enable fault finding.

Working to precise specifications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to tolerances using measuring tools like calipers and micrometers.

Full understanding of correct assembly techniques, for example torque tightening methods, shrink fits etc.

Ability to complete technical documentation clearly and accurately as work progresses.

Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications

• Minimum four years mechanical fitting, preferably for rotating equipment
• Mechanical aptitude as well as significant experience of working in an engineering environment
• Preferably time-served apprentice trained, or other relevant qualification
