Job summary

Dalkia UK is recruiting Mechanical Fitters to join the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital project as part of our national talent pool. You will install mechanical building services to design drawings and contract specs, while mentoring apprentices and following strict safety standards.

The role requires Craft/Technician level H&V knowledge, a Level 3 VQ in Mechanical/H&V, and strong communication skills. Typical hours are 07:30–18:00 with overtime potential; site lodging for away work is included

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of Mechanical (H&V) installation to Craftsman/Technician Level 3, in line with BESA standards of training.
• Relevant VQ Level 3 qualification in a Mechanical/H&V discipline, in line with recognised industry standards
• Ideally 5+ years' Building Services construction site experience in a project-based environment
• Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental systems and procedures
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work unsupervised and as part of a team
• A positive, proactive approach and a strong focus on health and safety
• Good general standard of education (GCSE level Maths, English and ICT desirable)
• IPAF Preferable

Responsibilities

• Carry out a Point of Work Risk Assessment (POWRA) at the beginning of each day and on any task change
• Attend, contribute to and implement the safety and health guidance from Toolbox Talks (TBT) and Daily Action Briefs (DAB)
• Install to design drawings and contract specifications, working to exacting quality standards
• Keep working areas free of waste and safe to work in
• Ensure materials are available to the wider trade team through the site supervisor
• Demonstrate correct and safe use of site tools and equipment
• Work to the disciplines of the project's plans and schedules
• Support and guide apprentices and less experienced operatives where required
• Undertake any other duties that reasonably occur on site

Mechanical Fitters – Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital

We are recruiting experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our multi-skilled construction team working on the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital project. As part of our national talent pool, you'll play a key role installing mechanical building services systems to the highest standard on a major healthcare construction project.

This role forms part of our national talent pool. Where you are required to work away from home, lodgings are covered as per the working rule agreement.

What You'll Be Doing

Rate of Pay & Working Arrangements

Mechanical Fitter (BESA Working Rule Agreement): £16.50 – £17.92 per hour, dependent on experience

37.5-hour contracted working week; overtime rates apply for all hours worked above this — there is a lot of overtime available on this project

Site hours are generally 07:30–18:00 Monday to Thursday, with a half day on Friday
