Job summary

MERITUS are recruiting for a defence client to support the Mechanical Fitting team. You must have an NVQ Level 3 and an HNC or HND, with a skilled apprenticeship background. Inside IR35, £29.02 per hour rising to £30.38 after 12 weeks, for a 12-month assignment with strong potential to go permanent.

Hours are 37 per week with OT opportunities and rate uplifts. SC clearance eligibility is required to begin work on this defence project.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out manufacturing and test tasks in the mechanical dept., per procedures and standards.

• Ensure manufacturing build times are met and paperwork is completed.
• Maintain high workmanship standards and product quality.
• Comply with all manufacturing procedures and maintain safety and housekeeping.
• Share best practices with team; demonstrate customer focus; plan and organise.

MERITUS are recruiting for an esteemed defence client at the forefront of sovereign manufacturing missions in building out their Mechanical Fitting team. YOU MUST HAVE AN NVQ LEVEL 3 & HNC OR HND.

MECHANICAL FITTER - MUST HAVE SKILLED APPRENTICESHIP BACKGROUND (MUST EVIDENCE ON APPLICATION) - INSIDE IR35 - £29.02 PER HOUR (RISING TO £30.38 PER HOUR AFTER 12 WEEKS) - 12 MONTHS (VERY LIKELY TO GO PERMANENT) - SECTOR: DEFENCE

HOURS: 37 PER WEEK + OT OPPORTUNITIES + UPLIFT ON RATE

CLEARANCE: MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR SC CLEARANCE

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for carrying out manufacturing and test tasks within the mechanical department, in accordance with product certification procedures, defined workmanship standards, allocated budgets and timescales to meet project objectives.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Certify the product in line with the product certification procedure.
• Maintain product certification and approval via regular audits.
• Possess a versatile skill base with the capability to apply these skills across a range of tasks.
• Be fully conversant with all equipment, tools and measuring instruments associated with the manufacturing cycle.
• Ensure manufacturing build times are met.
• Check and complete all paperwork associated with the manufacturing data pack.
• Maintain to the highest level, workmanship standards and product quality.
• Ensure compliance with all associated procedures applicable to the manufacturing process.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Maintain a good housekeeping policy.
• Communicate best practice to other team members.
• The successful candidate should be a team player who is able to demonstrate customer focus.
• They should also have proven planning and organising skills and be flexible and adaptable.

Skillset/experience required:

• Formal technical engineering/craft apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21.
• Formal further education certificate to HNC or equivalent certificate
