Mechanical Fitter required for maintenance, fault finding, installation of mechanical equipment within a regulated chemical manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repair:Perform routine and reactive maintenance on a range of mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, valves, and rotating machinery, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard.
- Installation:Assist in the installation of new machinery and equipment, ensuring that all installations are carried out in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Fault Diagnosis:Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues promptly, applying effective solutions to minimise disruption to production.
- Safety Compliance:Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring that all work areas are kept clean and safe.
- Documentation:Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work, including details of parts used and time spent on tasks.
- Continuous Improvement:Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing ideas for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of mechanical systems.
- Collaboration:Work closely with other departments, including production and engineering teams, to ensure that mechanical issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
Key Requirements:
- Qualifications: Relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter/Technician, ideally within the chemical manufacturing industry or a similarly regulated environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and experience with fault finding and repair.
- Safety Awareness: Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety practices, particularly within the chemical industry.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and make sound decisions under pressure.
