Job summary

Baker Hughes in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, seeks an ARMO Mechanic III to assemble, test and repair subsea equipment in a manufacturing environment. The role requires reading engineering drawings and following procedures with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.

Based at the Bridge of Don site, you will work rotational shifts and engage with ERP/Microsoft Office tools to update records and production data. Comprehensive training and career development are provided within a global energy leader.

Qualifications

  • Be time-served Mechanical Apprentice with a supporting engineering qualification.
  • Have experience within a mechanical assembly role, ideally subsea or similar complex equipment.
  • Able to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience completing manufacturing, test, and quality documentation accurately.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
  • Experience using Oracle or similar ERP/business systems for production and inventory transactions.
  • Strong understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental requirements and safety procedures.
  • Willing and able to work a rotational shift pattern.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for assembly and testing of subsea equipment with focus on quality and HSE compliance.
  • Assemble subsea equipment from engineering drawings to meet customer requirements.
  • Set up finished assemblies and conduct testing per routing and engineering procedures.
  • Record defects and non-conformances in line with company procedures.
  • Update work orders, material transactions, and manufacturing records in Oracle and other systems.
  • Support production reporting and documentation through basic computer skills.
  • Exercise Stop Work Authority to ensure safety when needed.
  • Assist with site safety initiatives and HR safety councils as required.
  • Work a rotational shift pattern to support business needs.

Partner with the best. The Mechanical Fitter will develop manufacturing technology and realize new products and systems. You will set up, monitor, and operate various pieces of equipment associated with manufacturing facility requirements to undertake the assembly and testing of Subsea equipment and, where authorized, repair Baker Hughes Subsea products and ancillary equipment in accordance with company and customer procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Providing support for the assembly and testing of subsea equipment while ensuring quality and Health, Safety & Environmental compliance.
  • Assembling subsea equipment and components from engineering specifications and drawings to meet customer requirements.
  • Setting up finished assemblies/products and conducting testing in accordance with routing instructions and engineering procedures.
  • Engaging with Quality Management Systems to ensure defects, non-conformances, and errors are accurately recorded in line with company procedures.
  • Completing all required assembly, test, and inspection documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Utilizing Oracle and other business systems to update work orders, material transactions, job status, and manufacturing records.
  • Demonstrating good basic computer skills to support production reporting, documentation, and system updates.
  • Displaying Baker Hughes Stop Work Authority when necessary to ensure the safety of employees and operations.
  • Supporting site safety initiatives, particularly High Reliability Organization (HRO) councils, including pressure safety and lifting activities.
  • Working a rotational shift pattern to support business and operational requirements.
