A leading company in precision engineering is seeking a Mechanical Field Service Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while servicing and calibrating precision measuring equipment across the Midlands and North of the UK. Candidates should have a strong background in mechanical engineering, solid interpersonal skills, and experience with precision instruments. Up to £35,000 base plus bonuses and a company car are offered.

Mechanical Field Service Engineer (Precision Engineering) - Up to £30-40k + Bonus + Car

Type: Permanent - REMOTE

As a Mechanical Field Service Engineer with a background in precision engineering, you will join a global maintenance team but work independently to represent the company at customer premises.

This role supports the field service team as a mechanically biased engineer, covering installation, service, repair, and calibration of the company's precision measuring equipment.

Location: REMOTE, covering the Midlands / North of the UK (East Midlands or Yorkshire preferred)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Visit customer sites to install, service, and calibrate precision measuring equipment.
  2. Undertake troubleshooting, fault-finding, diagnosis, and rectification.
  3. Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good condition.
  4. Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental policies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Background in Mechanical Engineering, maintenance, or similar.
  2. Experience with fault finding on mechanical/electrical systems.
  3. Experience with precision engineering tools and equipment such as CMM, profilometers, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, air gauges, CNC machines, diamond turning machines, electrical discharge machines, autocollimators, inclinometers, vibration isolation tables, sensor systems, digital scales, optical measuring systems, hardness testers, coordinate measuring machines, vision systems, fixture systems, etc.
  4. Ability to comply with relevant Health & Safety legislation.
  5. Full valid driving license (essential for field-based role with a car).
  6. Good interpersonal skills.

Compensation: Up to £35,000 base + bonus based on performance, company car (plug-in hybrid), pension, and remote working (5 days a week).
