Astute’s Team is partnering with a leading service company to recruit a Mechanical Field Service Engineer for its sites mainly in Essex and South East.

The Mechanical Field Service Engineer role offers a salary of £46,000 plus a £3,000 travel allowance.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Field Service Engineer

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, you will:

1. Carry out pre-planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical assets including turbines, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.
2. Provide engineering solutions when immediate spares aren't available (retrofitting, reverse engineering, or modifying equipment).
3. Work in line with maintenance techniques and best practices, complying with Health and Safety regulations.
4. Respond to reactive maintenance call-outs.
5. Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection logs.
6. Assist in outage planning, scheduling, and coordination.
7. Supervise contracted labor when on site.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

• A time-served apprenticeship in a Mechanical Engineering field.
• Strong experience working with rotating equipment such as steam turbines, gas turbines, and associated machinery.
• Experience in a heavy process environment like a power station, refinery, chemical plant, or paper mill.
• A full UK driving license is essential as this is a field-based role.

Personal skills

The ideal candidate will be:

• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• A self-starter.
• Good communicator.

Salary and benefits

• Package up to £49,000.
• Overtime available, with earnings potentially reaching £60,000 - £70,000 DOE.
