Job summary

Assystem is seeking professionals for mechanical construction surveillance in critical nuclear projects. Your role is to ensure quality compliance, provide contractor oversight, and maintain nuclear safety culture throughout project operations.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical construction surveillance experience in nuclear projects.
  • Experience with pipework installation, pumps, tanks, and rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance requirements including ISO9001 principles.
  • Experience with large mechanical equipment installation advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor mechanical works against contractor requirements.
  • Identify deviations and support non-conformance reporting.
  • Conduct continuous surveillance of construction activities.
  • Maintain communication with contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Capture accurate surveillance information using electronic systems.

The Job Mission

You will provide mechanical construction surveillance across a designated section of the project.

The role focuses on quality compliance, contractor oversight and nuclear safety culture.

  • Monitor mechanical works against contractor requirements and approved documentation
  • Identify deviations and support formal non-conformance reporting processes
  • Conduct continuous, notified and planned surveillance of construction activities
  • Maintain effective communication with contractors and wider project stakeholders
  • Provide surveillance information supporting project quality performance indicators
  • Identify emerging quality issues and support proportionate mitigation measures
  • Verify quality records are completed before works become inaccessible
  • Review construction drawings, technical requirements and quality control plans
  • Monitor contractor performance against authorised quality control requirements
  • Capture accurate surveillance information using electronic site reporting systems
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent vocational experience
  • Experience with pipework installation, pumps, tanks and rotating equipment
  • Broad understanding of construction materials, trades and installation methods
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance requirements including ISO9001 principles
  • Experience producing accurate, concise contract-relevant site diaries
  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting equipment and materialsAbility to build effective contractor relationships while remaining independent
  • Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with large mechanical equipment installation advantageous
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and drawing approval processes desirable
