Job summary

James Lewis Recruitment is partnering with a long‑established M&E contractor in Oxford to recruit a Mechanical Estimator. The role offers a varied project mix across education, commercial, heritage and scientific environments with a stable regional presence.

You will price mechanical packages, review drawings and tender documents, and produce cost plans for robust submissions. A mechanical trade background and estimating software experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating mechanical services for M&E contractors.
• Strong knowledge of heating, ventilation, and related systems.
• Ability to read drawings and prepare cost plans.
• Comfort with tender submissions and supplier quotes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical estimates and tenders across a varied range of projects.
• Price packages across heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, public health, gas, water, drainage and related plant.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Carry out take-offs, build cost plans and ensure robust submissions.
• Liaise with suppliers/subcontractors for quotations and identify scope gaps.
• Collaborate with design engineers and project teams to maintain technical/commercial accuracy.
