Job summary

King and Moffatt Building Services is seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator to lead tender analyses and take-offs, manage pricing and subcontractor enquiries, and ensure value engineering is applied across projects. You will inspect sites, review plant schedules, and document all assumptions to support bids.

The role requires 3–7 years of estimating experience and an HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services, with proficiency in Trimble Luckins, Ensign, Cymap and Bluebeam Revu.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical estimating within building services or construction.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and ductwork standards.
• Familiarity with pricing, labour norms, and material discounts.

Responsibilities

• Lead tender package review and develop a query list.
• Coordinate measurement of mechanical services from drawings or BIM.
• Apply labour norms and material discounts to BOQ; ensure ancillaries are included.
• Distribute enquiries to specialist trades and review responses.
• Review plant schedules for fit-for-purpose equipment and value engineering.
• Coordinate site walk-arounds to identify existing services and constraints.
• Provide updates on prime cost and commercial risks to management.
• Prepare the tender handover file with clear assumptions and exclusions.
• Review material price trends to reflect market volatility.
• Arrange and chair mid-tender client interviews for proposals.
