Job Introduction

Healthy outcomes start with positive patient experiences.

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking for a rewarding role in a healthcare environment? Join the estates team at Wythenshawe Hospital, where you’ll play a crucial part in maintaining essential systems that keep the facility running smoothly. If you have a strong background in mechanical maintenance and a passion for problem-solving, we’d love to hear from you!

The Wythenshawe Estates Team delivers a wide range of estate and property management services across multiple hospital sites. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical HVAC / Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our team and support the delivery of Hard FM services across our estate.

As a Wythenshawe Estates Tradesperson, you will play a key role in maintaining the Trust’s buildings, plant, and infrastructure safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory requirements and NHS Trust policies. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working alongside healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality maintenance and compliance services.

Your work will involve a combination of planned and reactive maintenance, delivered both by in-house teams and external contractors. With multiple sites and varying service users, no two days will be the same - if you're looking for a role with variety and purpose, this could be the perfect fit.

Join Sodexo and be part of something greater. You belong in a team where you can act with purpose and thrive in your own way.

What you’ll do:
  • Perform reactive and pro-active Mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations on heating, ventilation, chilled water, and BMS systems. It will be anticipated that some general building repair duties will also be required to be undertaken.
  • Conduct fault-finding diagnostics to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Work safely under mechanical permit systems and adhere to health & safety regulations.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and statutory inspections.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to ensure fast and efficient responses to breakdowns.
  • Participate in the on-call roster to provide essential support.
  • Work with tools, access equipment, and occasionally drive company vehicles as required.
What you bring:
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a similar role.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of heating, ventilation, and building energy management systems.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What we offer:

Working with Sodexo is more than a job; it’s a chance to be part of something greater. You’ll belong in a company and team that values you for you; you’ll act with purpose and have an impact through your everyday actions; and you’ll be able to thrive in your own way. In addition, we also offer a range of resources, rewards and benefits for our colleagues and their families:

  • Unlimited access to an online platform offering mental health and wellbeing support.
  • Employee Assistance Programme to help with everyday issues or larger problems where you may need additional support, including legal and financial advice, support with work-related issues or personal issues such as bereavement.
  • Access to a free health and wellbeing app that provides rewards for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and includes access to a 24hr virtual GP and various other services.
  • The Sodexo Discounts Scheme, offering great deals 24/7 (also open to friends and family) and/or the prepayment cashback card.
  • Money Insights and financial benefits via the Salary Finance Platform.
  • Save for your future by becoming a member of the Sodexo Retirement Plan.

  • Volunteering Opportunities to enable all colleagues to help support worthwhile causes in our communities.
  • Flexible and dynamic work environment.
