THE ROLE
Opportunities have arisen for two Mechanical Engineering Technicians (one permanent, one 12-month fixed term contract), based at Greengate, St Helens. The successful candidates may be required to work at either Float Manufacturing site, depending upon operational requirements, from 7:48-16:00 on Monday to Friday.
Our Mechanical Engineering Technicians are responsible for all aspects of the maintenance on the Float Production Process and all associated plant, buildings, services and vehicles. The duties include, but are not limited to: planned preventative maintenance activities to maximise plant reliability; fault finding and diagnostics in emergency breakdown or planned situations; modification and improvement of plant; hazard identification and elimination; problem solving; ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, and supporting and contributing to the site HSE initiatives; providing training and mentoring to apprentices and colleagues; using SAP CMMS system to record maintenance activities and parts used.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The successful applicant will have completed a relevant Engineering Apprenticeship and be qualified to NVQ level 3, with proven experience within a similar technical role. It will be necessary to work unsupervised for extended periods and be capable of identifying, generating and managing their own workload which will involve effective communication with Supervisors and members of other areas.
Applicants must be willing to join the 1-in-9 on call team to provide out of hours coverage in line with the needs of the process, and must be flexible in order to respond to changes in priority or emergency situations which may include operating on a shift system.
