Heriot-Watt University invites applications for an open-ended Assistant Professor (Teaching and Educational Enhancement) in Mechanical Engineering at the Edinburgh campus. The role focuses on leading and contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses, including supervision of projects and personal tutoring.

The appointee should have expertise in Engineering Design and Manufacture or Materials Engineering, strong communication, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• A good first degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Expertise in either Engineering Design and Manufacture, or Materials Engineering.
• Ability to communicate Engineering concepts clearly to various audience profiles.
• Excellent oral and written communication, team working and organisational skills.
• Commitment to adopting principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Responsabilités

• Deliver taught content of the mechanical engineering programme (lectures, tutorials, workshops and laboratories).
• Act as personal tutor to assigned students.
• Support undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through assessment and moderation.
• Develop learning materials and assessments for Mechanical Engineering subjects.
• Engage in administrative tasks within the School’s teaching initiatives.
