Position: Mechanical Engineering Supervisor

Location: Stratford

Salary: £55,000

Hours: Days, Monday to Friday

One of the well-known companies in the FM and Maintenance industry is currently looking to recruit a key member of staff for their high-profile estate based in East London. The company provides specialist support in the operation, maintenance, and repair of building services, excelling in maintaining technically demanding blue-chip and critical sites within London’s Square Mile and Central London.

The role involves managing planned and reactive maintenance schedules, attending client meetings, compiling reports, supervising staff, and managing sub-contractors.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a high-profile commercial environment requiring critical and non-critical maintenance, with a strong technical understanding and proven track record in commercial building services. Key responsibilities:
  • Attend and complete reactive Mechanical and Plumbing works within Service Level Agreements
  • Maintain mechanical installations, repairs, and maintenance to M&E Plant and Building Fabric
  • Complete Planned Maintenance in line with SFG20 and HTM Guidelines
  • Conduct proactive inspections, remedial repairs, and installations
  • Support the wider Engineering Day Team during emergencies
  • Provide cost information for chargeable Mechanical and Plumbing works
  • Update the Helpdesk Co-ordinator regularly to ensure the CAFM System is current
  • Perform daily checks of plant rooms and equipment
  • Offer technical and operational support to the engineering team
  • Resolve escalations from Helpdesk and clients promptly
  • Ensure scheduled maintenance services are completed on time
  • Keep compliance documents, contract logs, and HTM logbooks up to date and audit-ready
  • Manage client/end-user escalations and queries, encouraging hazard reporting
  • Manage PPE, uniforms, tools, and hazard logs
  • Support outside of normal working hours in case of call-outs or escalations
  • Complete work orders within SLAs
  • Conduct daily plant walk rounds to identify and repair defects
  • Record defects through the helpdesk to meet SLA timeframes
  • Respond rapidly to customer and helpdesk requirements
  • Review RAMS and sub-contractor competencies before work permits approval
  • Escalate issues affecting site safety or security
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Adhere to company policies and continuously improve procedures
  • Attend scheduled training and complete toolbox talks
  • Provide weekly hazard reports
Person Specification/Requirements:
  • Experience in Healthcare environment advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing/Heating or equivalent
  • Qualifications related to Steam and Pressure Systems advantageous
  • Thorough knowledge of building services, especially A/C and BMS
  • Experience in fault finding with mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to fault find on Mechanical and Electrical Plant and Equipment
  • Knowledge of L8 Compliance
  • Flexible approach and willingness to travel
