Job summary

RWE Generation UK is offering an engineering placement at Didcot B CCGT Power Station in Oxfordshire. You will support the HRSG and BoP team, gaining hands-on experience on data analysis, plant investigations and outage work.

This 13-month full-time placement is ideal for an undergraduate student pursuing a BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or related subject with an industrial placement year.

Qualifications

• Ideally pursuing a BEng or MEng Mechanical Engineering or Science degree at undergraduate level.
• Degree should include an industrial placement year to meet role requirements.
• Interest in pressure systems and energy generation is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Undertake data analysis to diagnose problems for long and short-term projects.
• Gain on-site experience and hands-on training.
• Contribute to development of pressure system asset integrity processes.
• Assist in delivering plant improvement projects and investigations.
• Support delivery of significant HRSG outage scheduling and activities.

Are you interested in an engineering placement with one of the UK’s largest energy producers? Our HRSG and Balance of Plant team has an exciting industrial placement opportunity and is looking for a motivated team member with excellent interpersonal skills!

RWE's Gas Engineering and Outage (E&O) Group supports our UK, Dutch and German portfolio of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Stations. Within this group, our HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generator) and Balance of Plant (BoP) Team is responsible for the management, integrity and process safety of many different mechanical systems and components.

About the role

You will be principally responsible for providing key engineering support to Didcot B CCGT Power Station in Oxfordshire, ensuring it can continue to be operated safely, efficiently and with the greatest possible commercial flexibility.

There may also be exposure to our central engineering office in Swindon and other RWE sites around the UK.

• Undertake data analysis to diagnose problems to help in both long and short-term projects.
• Gain important on-site experience and valuable hands-on practical skills and training.
• Support development of the pressure system asset integrity processes.
• Deliver on plant improvement projects and plant investigations.
• Assist in the delivery of a significant HRSG outage (subject to outage scheduling).

You will receive on-the-job training from experienced engineers within the Mechanical Team and attend courses and workshops for your personal development. You will gain first-hand technical industrial experience and transferrable skills that are desired by all employers.

Job requirements and experience

• Ideally, you should be pursuing a BEng or MEng Mechanical Engineering or Science degree at an undergraduate level. You should also have an interest in project coordination.
• Your degree should include an industrial placement year to meet the requirements for this role.
