Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support delivery of mechanical design across water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the North West, working with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams.

You will gain experience from feasibility to construction, produce calculations and documentation, and participate in site visits and client liaison.

This role offers hybrid working between Manchester or Warrington, with mentoring and opportunities to progress toward chartered status.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering design, ideally within water sector or regulated infrastructure.
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles and industry standards.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proactive approach to learning and professional development.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical design activities from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support.

  • Assist with the design of pumping stations, water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines and associated mechanical infrastructure.

  • Work closely with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders to help deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard.

Job description

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll support the delivery of mechanical engineering design across a wide range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working closely with senior engineers, Project Managers and other technical disciplines, you'll contribute to the development of safe, efficient and sustainable engineering solutions. You will:

  • Support mechanical design activities from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Produce mechanical calculations, technical specifications, schedules, reports and engineering documentation.
  • Assist with the design of pumping stations, water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines and associated mechanical infrastructure.
  • Undertake site visits, surveys and technical investigations where required.
  • Collaborate with electrical, process, civil and structural engineers to deliver integrated project solutions.

Essential
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
