Job Description

Supporting the Technical and Maintenance Superintendent, the Mechanical Engineer - Utilities will provide mechanical engineering and technical support to Bumi Armada UK’s onshore and offshore operations teams in relation to the main boilers and main power units onboard the Armada Kraken FPSO. This is an onshore role based in the Aberdeen office.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing mechanical engineering support related to main power plant operations and maintenance
  • Providing mechanical engineering support related to main cranes and lifting equipment operations and maintenance
  • Providing mechanical engineering support which may entail extended offshore visits as required
  • Providing expertise in all aspects of specific types of mechanical equipment, fabricated equipment, materials handling equipment
  • Generating work scopes, detailed cost estimates, and compiling maintenance and minor modification work packs for offshore implementation
  • Providing operational and specialist mechanical engineering support to modification or study teams or projects in line with BAUK’s technical Management of Change procedure
  • Ensuring all modifications to the installation’s systems fully comply with UKCS legislation, Asset Verification Scheme, and the Company’s standards, procedures, and safety rules
  • Assisting in setting realistic budgets, managing expenditure within those budgets, understanding risks, and highlighting issues
  • Managing subcontractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with BAUK’s standards such as Safety Management, Quality Management, and CSR
  • Performing engineering design and analysis of mechanical work to client specifications and industry standards
  • Staying updated with the latest technical developments relevant to the role
  • Liaising with other disciplines to maintain technical integrity of design
  • Supporting and delivering assigned discipline outputs within deadlines
  • Assisting the CMMS Coordinator with maintenance plan activities
  • Participating in safety reviews like HAZID, HAZOP, and closing actions timely
  • Preparing technical reports as required
  • Assisting with equipment inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Maintaining Mechanical Equipment Specifications, Standards, Procedures, and Safety Rules on Kraken
  • Supporting long-term modification and maintenance plans for cost-effective operation and asset integrity
  • Carrying out technical integrity audits on mechanical systems
  • Meeting corporate targets for BAUK
  • Leading and participating in safety performance initiatives and KPIs
  • Participating in equipment failure and incident investigations
  • Ensuring compliance with Safety, Health, Security, and Environmental Management Systems
  • Meeting support requirements for FPSO operations, construction, and maintenance
  • Focusing on safety in daily operations
