Job summary

Assystem is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer for the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit in the United Kingdom. You will contribute to Turbine Island design development, work with multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure supplier deliverables meet project requirements.

You should hold a 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with senior engineering experience in regulated sectors (offshore, renewables, or nuclear).

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Relevant senior engineering experience in offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries.
• Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
• Proficient with CAD software: Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Catia.
• Strong mathematical skills: MathCAD.
• Experience producing design/substantiation reports and assembly procedures.
• Knowledge of welding, machining and manufacturing processes.
• Experience through the engineering design cycle from Concept to Manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements.
• Develop and check design documents with Senior Engineers.
• Assist in design development activities and optioneering studies.
• Apply Systems Engineering principles.
• Integrate Turbine Island design into wider power plant infrastructure.
• Engage with stakeholders and attend design reviews.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality management.
