Job summary

Austin Banks is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to transition into teaching and shape the next generation of engineers. No teaching qualification needed at start; the client funds a full teacher training pathway from Level 3 to Level 5 while you earn a full salary.

You will receive hands-on mentoring and support to convert industry experience into effective teaching, learning and assessment for funded and non-funded learners and apprentices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical engineering experience.
• Willingness to complete Level 3 to Level 5 teaching qualification.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop schemes of work and lesson plans.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply the full teaching cycle in line with the Education Inspection Framework.
• Bring real-world engineering practice into the classroom and workshop, embedding safe industrial practices.
• Develop schemes of work and session plans that deliver an engaging curriculum for all learners.
• Build and maintain relationships with employers, offering suitable training solutions.
• Provide support and guidance to learners and apprentices throughout programmes.
• Support business development and recruitment activities when required.
• Cooperate with Delivery Team Director to develop employer relationships and report progress.
• Assist with costings and control of materials and equipment as needed.
• Maintain records of learner progress and achievement.
• Participate in internal quality assurance processes and maintain awarding organisation requirements.
• Commit to ongoing professional development, including funded teaching qualifications.

Engineering qualification (Level 3 NVQ, BTEC, HNC/HND or completed apprenticeship)
