Descrizione del lavoro

Mechanical Engineer – Retrofit Team

Due to continued growth we are delighted to announce we are seeking a technically focused Mechanical Engineer to join our Retrofit team based in Rugby. In this role you will work with world‑class nuclear steam turbines – industry‑leading equipment in terms of performance, availability and power – and play a central role in mechanical engineering design development. Under the responsibility of the Turbine Retrofit Concept Leader, you will coordinate the production of Retrofit Steam Turbine Concepts, supporting the Application Engineer during the concept development phase of Retrofit projects.

You will coordinate design work as part of a multidisciplinary international steam turbine department, integrating the Retrofit steam path with the rotor and stationary equipment to provide the required concept solutions that match the customer's needs. You will support concept‑solution development (mechanical design, thermodynamics, mechanical calculations) and provide data to enable the Application Engineer to generate costs for the Retrofit Solution. Working collaboratively with various departments across the business, you will support the projects until the concept is mature and validated, and then hand them over to the execution engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, check, and issue technical reports, customer reports, calculation notes or drawings.
  • Contribute to the engineering planning of the project jointly with the factory master planner.
  • Manage technical interfaces between disciplines during the concept phase.

  • Contribute to customer design reviews until end of concept phase.
  • Ensure on‑time and on‑budget delivery of the design documentation for your discipline.
  • Support the technical interface with the Client and project team for your discipline (answer client comments, participate in Client's and project meetings).
  • Coordinate technical interface with factories and external suppliers in charge of component manufacturing (production order issuance, participation in kick‑off and follow‑up meetings, answer clarifications, deviations, non‑conformances reports) with the support experts.
  • Coordinate the technical interface with the site team in charge of the erection of the turbine components (participation in kick‑off and follow‑up meetings, answer clarifications, deviations, non‑conformances reports) with the support of experts.
  • Support site measurement campaigns.
  • Provide feedback experience to the group (feedback meetings with suppliers and internal, feedback reports).
  • Ensure that Nuclear Safety Items and Activities are identified and closely monitored.
  • Plan and secure ITNS Gates Reviews.
  • Be informed and take into account regulations inherent to design and safe production of the products concerned and consider the life‑cycle.
  • Follow company EHS rules.
