ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

A highly motivated Mechanical Engineer is required to deliver and maintain a mechanical asset care policy that supports the achievement of Asset SHE, cost and reliability performance targets. This role is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to work within a plant area that has seen significant recent investment and includes a diverse array of mechanical equipment types.

Key accountabilities

  • Define and implement asset care policy for all rotating and static mechanical equipment in the Polymers business, to ensure delivery of ongoing asset reliability, integrity and cost commitments.
  • Specify and audit inspection activities to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Define Polymers mechanical engineering standards, procedures and practices to ensure full compliance with current and future discipline integrity and legislative requirements.
  • Define and continuously develop the long term (+10 year) Mechanical Strategy for Polymers to facilitate the development of future budgets and workloads.
  • Maintain asset spares and equipment holding to maximise asset reliability and to drive maintenance and TAR efficiency/cost performance.
  • Provide discipline expertise and root cause analysis in troubleshooting asset vulnerabilities to minimise impact on the short through long term operating plan.
  • Provide discipline expertise for all Polymers improvement projects and act as formal discipline representative to ensure successful service delivery.
  • Lead trouble-shooting on critical equipment failures to establish root cause of failure and define improvements to maintenance regimes and equipment design to eliminate faults.
  • Ensure correct overall mechanical spend to meet asset requirements within available budget and where required, drive appropriate prioritisation.
  • Specify TAR work scope requirements (in accordance with asset strategy) and assist in execution to support delivery of safe, on time and to budget TAR's.
  • Coach all relevant Polymers operations and support personnel to ensure sufficient competence to effectively execute their core roles and generate enhanced service delivery to the business.

ABOUT YOU

You should:

  • Be degree qualified in a relevant discipline (preferably Mechanical Engineering).
  • Have knowledge of theory and practice of managing equipment reliability systems and processes in a production/manufacturing facility e.g. asset care.
  • Have petrochemical or refining manufacturing experience including new plant commissioning, TAR planning and execution and problem solving on large scale static and rotating equipment.
  • Have a strong understanding of discipline legislative and regulatory requirements and demonstrated ability to appropriately translate these requirements into equipment inspection/maintenance regimes.
  • Be skilled in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Be self-motivated, with the ability to identify and pursue plant reliability issues to a satisfactory resolution.
  • Have experience of following a Plant Modification process and associated documentation management systems.

You may also:

  • Be a Chartered Mechanical engineer (or in the process of gaining recognition) with demonstrable experience in an asset care role.
