Job description

We promise more than a job—we offer a career you can build.

1 – Who We Are

We’re the UK branch of

ABMI , a French engineering consulting group with over 35 years of experience delivering high-level expertise in critical industries like nuclear energy, aerospace, and transportation. We don’t do

everything —we specialize. And that makes all the difference.

ABMI is known for its deep technical knowledge and ability to adapt its skills to new sectors. Our strength lies in choosing focus over breadth. In the UK, we’re applying our nuclear expertise to projects with

EDF , a long-standing client we’ve supported for years in France. That trust opened the door for us to expand—and now, we’re writing the UK chapter of this story.

We’re not here to fill seats. We’re here to deliver

tailored engineering solutions

that drive results. That’s the consulting mindset: we align with our partners’ challenges, and we bring the right people, the right tools, and the right strategy to move things forward.

As we grow, we remain anchored in our core values:

expertise, integrity, and care for people —because our consultants are at the heart of everything we do.

2 – What You’ll Do

About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer , you will be responsible for the specification, technical coordination, and integration of mechanical systems and components within a highly regulated nuclear environment. Your role will ensure that all equipment complies with safety, quality, and performance standards, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across design, procurement, and construction phases—particularly on large-scale projects such as SZC or HPC.

Key responsibilities :

Coordinate all activities throughout the tendering phases, including clarification meetings, bid assessments, and contract surveillance

Organise and lead regular technical and progress meetings with contractors

Provide internal reporting to the RD and client, ensuring clear communication on progress, risks, issues, and timelines to support effective contract delivery

Manage and track design-related risks; lead the preparation and evaluation of early warnings and variation requests

Oversee interfaces between the contractor, client, and all internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful contract delivery aligned with the engineering schedule and technical specifications

Coordinate configuration management activities, including the preparation of Contract Transfer Sheets, Design Modifications, and Referential Evolution Requests

Organise, coordinate, and monitor surveillance activities, including drafting the

Surveillance Programme Organisation Note

and the

Annual Surveillance Report

Plan for and contribute to the resolution of technical issues and queries as they arise

3 – Why Join Us?

At ABMI UK, we combine the strength of a well-established European engineering group with the agility of a human-sized team. Based in Bristol and still growing, we offer you the opportunity to be part of something meaningful from the ground up.

Here, you’ll join a

consulting company , not a recruitment agency — a place where your expertise truly matters, and where your voice helps shape our future. We’re engineers working with engineers, and we understand what matters most to you:
