Role summary:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll support the design, assurance, and integration of mechanical handling systems such as trolleys and transfer ports for a key UK nuclear facility.

What you will be doing:

    • Designing and reviewing mechanical handling systems (e.g. trolleys, transfer ports)

    • Ensuring safety, operability, and compliance through robust engineering input

    • Supporting system integration with adjacent equipment and processes

    • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders

    • Contributing to design substantiation and assurance documentation

    • Providing technical guidance across the design and review lifecycle

Formal qualifications or training:

    • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related field

    • Chartered or working towards chartership (IMechE or similar)

    • Experience designing mechanical handling systems (not including cranes/hoists)

    • Nuclear, defence, or regulated industry background preferred

    • Familiar with substantiation and assurance processes

    • Strong communication and technical leadership skills
