Job Purpose:

To ensure that the delivery of mechanical service and repair aspects of the contract are delivered in an effective, efficient, and professional manner to the complete satisfaction of all our direct and indirect clients. To have specific day-to-day responsibility for non-motorised ground support equipment maintenance, repairs, statutory inspections, and any other reasonable request of the Account Supervisor.

About EMCOR UK:

At EMCOR UK, we revolutionise facilities management by combining our engineering heritage and innovation capability. We prioritise people in everything we do, collaborating closely with our customers to understand all their needs, from the big picture to day-to-day operations. Our purpose is to “create a better world at work”. Using our unique insight platform, "One Data World," we harness data-driven intelligence to make informed decisions, adapting our services to meet our customers’ evolving requirements. This allows us to cultivate an enhanced workplace experience for their teams whilst optimising efficiency, meticulously managing every asset, and minimising their impact on the planet. All supported by our commitment to safety, compliance, and assurance. Our partnering approach empowers our customers to shape a better future. Whether guiding their path to net zero or redeveloping their facilities for enhanced efficiency, we create better places for work whilst taking away the burden of facility operations, freeing up our customers to concentrate on their business.

Principle Accountabilities:
  • Able to demonstrate a proven track record with (post apprenticeship) experience of planned maintenance in a highly regulated environment.
  • Work in a small team or singularly to deliver a high output of pre-planned maintenance tasks across the client’s sites.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on machines and equipment by checking for smooth operation and replacing worn and defective parts, as per the scope of the contract.
  • Identify damage to assets outside the contract scope, produce a bill of materials, and estimate repair times.
  • Support the statutory inspection team in identifying non-compliant equipment; LEEA training would be advantageous.
  • Assist in preparing estimates and quotations.
  • Conform to safety rules and apply good engineering and safety practices.
  • A multi-skilled background with a good understanding of aerospace ground support equipment and electrical systems would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to undertake company training workshops and work to GMP (good manufacturing practice).
  • Operate onsite machinery such as nitrogen plant, cranes, forklifts, hangar doors, etc.
  • Manage work orders from receipt to completion and provide progress updates.
  • Adhere to all company procedures and the Quality Management System.
  • Develop relationships with clients and work within a team of approximately 20 staff.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and value for money.
  • Willing to work in secure and sensitive environments on manned sites.

This role does not involve staff management. It requires a commercially aware engineer capable of delivering planned maintenance, identifying out-of-scope work, and producing data for quotes. The applicant will also manage and escort contractors/suppliers on site as needed, be aware of the contract’s financial position, and support efficient task completion.

Person Specification
  • Qualified to City & Guilds, NVQ, or HNC/HND in a relevant trade.
  • Enhanced experience or qualifications in supporting trades, including welding and hydraulic systems, are advantageous.
  • Experience with aerospace systems and tooling.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices and permit-to-work systems.
  • Effective communication skills and a flexible approach.
  • An airside security pass, DBS clearance, and five years of references are required.
  • Driving license is essential.

Other factors include UK-wide travel, attendance at training courses (possibly abroad), availability of a company mobile phone, and strong IT skills. The role is based at Heathrow Airport within an engineering workshop, with deployment as per scheduling. The role requires staying in the field for the entire workday unless advised otherwise.

At EMCOR UK, we embrace diversity and encourage applications from all backgrounds, supporting equal opportunities and inclusive policies.
