Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Derby team supporting the Nuclear sector. You will develop mechanical designs using E3D or PDMS, manage data in Teamcenter, and work under senior engineers on high-integrity systems.

Role involves working on site in Derby with 2 days on site weekly, BPSS clearance, and 1–5 years of experience. A STEM degree is required and exposure to regulated environments is desirable.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with E3D or PDMS in mechanical design.
• Working knowledge of Teamcenter PLM and data management.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and configuration discipline.
• Ability to operate within formal engineering processes.

Responsibilities

• Produce and modify 3D models and drawings using E3D or PDMS.
• Manage design data, revisions, and configuration control in Teamcenter.
• Support mechanical design development under supervision of senior engineers.
• Prepare technical documentation and design deliverables.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams for design integration.
• Follow quality and configuration management in a regulated environment.

Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join the Derby team to support our activities within the Nuclear sector.

You will support design activities using E3D or PDMS and Teamcenter, contributing to the creation, management, and release of mechanical design data in a highly regulated engineering environment. This role offers the opportunity to develop hands‑on experience working alongside senior engineers on complex, high‑integrity systems.

• Location: Derby
• On Site: 2 times per week
• Clearance: BPSS
• Experience Level: 1- 5 YOE

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and modify 3D models and engineering drawings using E3D or PDMS

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in nuclear, power generation, or other safety‑critical industries
• Knowledge of ONR safety principles, INPO guidance, or similar regulatory frameworks
