Job summary

Astute People is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer for its UK energy portfolio based at the North Lincolnshire CCGT site. You will report to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and support large-scale mechanical, rotating plant assets, including HRSG systems, ensuring reliable operation.

You will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, uphold safety and regulatory standards, contribute to maintenance planning, work control, and asset performance improvements, with occasional travel to other assets as

Qualifications

  • Educated to HNC level minimum in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with large rotating plant and HRSG pressure systems in industrial/power generation.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, environmental and engineering compliance requirements.
  • Experience with maintenance planning, work control processes and CMMS (Maximo or similar).
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other assets.

Job description

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Engineer role

Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer you will:

  • Support delivery of large-scale engineering projects across mechanical, pressure systems, and rotating plant assets within the portfolio.
  • Assist in planned and reactive maintenance activities to support continuous plant operation.
  • Ensure assets comply with regulatory, industry, and company standards, including relevant safety and engineering requirements.
  • Contribute to maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient generation through engineering input and support.
  • Support the delivery of major maintenance projects, upgrades, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical advice and engineering support to site maintenance teams.
  • Assist in the implementation of engineering standards, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Support work planning and work control processes to ensure safe and efficient execution of maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to asset performance improvements through collaboration with engineering and operational teams.
Professional qualifications
  • Educated to HNC level minimum in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (degree desirable).
  • Experience working with large rotating plant and/or HRSG pressure systems within industrial or power generation environments.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation including health, safety, environmental, and engineering compliance requirements.
  • Experience with maintenance planning, work control processes, and engineering systems (e.g. Maximo or similar CMMS).
  • Working knowledge of engineering standards, generation safety rules, and contract/budget awareness.
  • Able to travel occasionally to other assets as required.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to work collaboratively and support team objectives.
  • Adaptable and proactive, with a willingness to learn, develop, and support change across the business.
Salary and benefits of the Mechanical Engineer role
  • Starting salary of up to c.£60,000

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company in the UK to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to join its portfolio team, based at their CCGT plant in North Lincolnshire, with occasional travel to other assets required.

The Mechanical Engineer role comes with a starting salary of up to £60,000 + benefits including bonus and medical insurance.

If you are a HNC Mechanical Engineer with at least 5 years' experience working on heavy industrial plant, preferably within the power generation sector
