Job summary

Line Up Aviation in Bolton is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support calibration and maintenance, working onsite with a focused team. You will assist with metrology tasks, fixtures, and CMM inspection while guiding operators on best practices and contributing to process improvements.

The role requires torque tool calibration to ISO 6789-2:2017, GD&T proficiency, and experience in dimensional calibration. Temperature and pressure calibration knowledge is desirable; you will work 37 hours weekly

Qualifications

• Experience calibrating torque tools to ISO 6789-2:2017.

• Proficient with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and creating/calibrating programs.

Responsibilities

• Technical support for the metrology department with COTS and STTE calibration and maintenance.
• Assist production with technical queries on fixtures and tooling; support CMM inspection work.
• Guide operators on metrology best practices and pursue process and measurement improvements.
• Provide technical support for mechanical calibration including high/low pressure and temperature calibrations.

Mechanical Engineer - Calibration and Maintenance (BBBH18247) Bolton, England

Salary: GBP32 - GBP35 per hour

Our client has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join their Calibration and Maintenance Team. You will be joining a dynamic and focussed team, responsible for the support of the manufacturing function across all stages of product assembly integration and test. The team are self-motivated and work directly with support functions and engineers across MBDA to resolve routine and non-routine tasks arising within the business.
Role: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Bolton, fully onsite
Hours: 37 per week
Hourly Rate: £32-£35 per hour via Umbrella, inside IR35
Clearance: SC required before starting
What you’ll be doing:

• The main aspects of the role will be as technical support for the metrology department supporting COTS (commercial of the shelf) equipment and STTE (Special to type test equipment) calibration and maintenance.
• You will be required to assist production with technical queries on fixtures and tooling along with supporting CMM (Co-ordinate measuring machine) inspection work.
• You will be required to guide operators on best practice within the metrology department on day-to-day technical queries alongside looking at ways to improve process and measurement techniques within the department.
• You will also give technical support for mechanical calibration such as high/low pressure & temperature calibrations.

Requirements:

• Experience and knowledge of calibrating torque tools to ISO 6789-2:2017 required.
• Good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) required.
• Experience and knowledge in dimensional calibration required
• Experience and knowledge of using and creating programs for coordinate measuring machine required.
• Good knowledge of temperature and pressure calibration desirable
• Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently.
