Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical design software (Revit MEP, AutoCAD, TAS, or IES) is required.
  • Knowledge of UK regulations and Part L compliance are essential.
  • Working towards IEng or CEng status is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently on technical project aspects.
  • Complete detailed designs and specifications.
  • Assess project feasibility specific to mechanical engineering.

YOUR TEAM - The Bristol office

  • You will be joining a team with a strong forward workload/order book stretching into the middle of next year.
  • You will be growing a team with many medium-term opportunities for career progression.
  • You will work closely with like-minded individuals on exciting and challenging projects.
  • Building Services in Bristol comprises 25 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers, along with sustainability consultants, forming part of the National MEP Team of nearly 400 engineers.

  • You will be based in our Bristol office, with easy access via Bristol Temple Meads Train Station (10 mins walk) and into Bristol City Centre within 10 minutes.

YOUR TEAM - The Cardiff office

  • You will be joining a team with a strong forward workload/order book into next year.
  • You will be growing a team with many medium-term career opportunities.
  • You will work closely with like-minded colleagues on exciting projects.
  • Building Services in Cardiff includes 20 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers, plus sustainability consultants, part of the National MEP Team of nearly 400 engineers.

  • You will be based in our Cardiff office, accessible via Cardiff Central and Queen Street Train Stations (10 mins walk) and Cardiff City Centre (5 mins walk).

A little more about your role

  • Meet the requirements of an 'Engineer' grade with a proven track record in project work.
  • Work independently on technical aspects of your discipline.
  • Follow the guidance of discipline leads or clients, interpreting project needs to meet delivery requirements.
  • Assess project feasibility specific to your discipline.
  • Complete detailed designs and specifications, providing technical advice on a wide range of projects.
  • Contribute to the detailed design programme and ensure resource availability.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

Key Technical Requirements

  • Understanding of UK and European regulations applicable to your discipline.
  • Ability to obtain UK Security Check (SC).
  • Experience with latest mechanical design software, Revit MEP, AutoCAD, TAS, or IES.
  • Ability to communicate technical details graphically.
  • Knowledge of Part L regulations and ability to demonstrate compliance.

Mechanical Design Skills

  • Knowledge of Hevacomp, U-value calculations, heat loss/gain, pipe and duct sizing, psychrometrics, control valves, thermal modelling, BMS systems.

Qualifications

  • Honours degree from an accredited engineering body or equivalent experience leading to Chartership.
  • Training in IES or TAS, Revit MEP.
  • Working towards IEng or CEng status.
  • BEng/BSc/MEng in relevant engineering discipline.
