Fortress Safety is a rapidly growing organisation, headquartered in Wolverhampton, UK. Due to our ambitious growth plans, we are seeking an experienced and ambitious Mechanical Engineer.

As a Mechanical Engineer at Fortress Safety, you will be involved in the design, prototyping, and testing of new mechanical and electro-mechanical products and assemblies for Fortress’s expanding product portfolio, as well as maintaining and developing existing products.

This role offers great development opportunities for an existing Engineer seeking greater exposure to mechanical product design and development, or for a Junior Engineer looking to utilize existing knowledge and gain broad experience in a successful manufacturing environment.

You will have the opportunity to:

1. Design and develop mechanisms, components, and assemblies within new and existing Fortress products.
2. Generate part drawings and specifications using 3D CAD packages.
3. Prototype and test designs and products.
4. Introduce parts and designs into manufacturing and production.
5. Assess and document products against specifications and standards.
6. Assist the Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Technical Support teams as needed.
7. Hold a Degree or similar qualification in Mechanical Design Engineering or a comparable subject.
8. Experience with 3D CAD software such as CREO and Windchill (or similar).
9. Ability to accurately read, layout, and create 2D engineering drawings.
10. Understanding of geometric tolerances and other engineering principles.
11. Experience or understanding of ERP software (Microsoft Navision preferred).
12. Understanding of basic electronics and mechatronic principles.
13. Hands-on experience with product testing.
