Mechanical Engineer

Swansea, £48,000 - £49,000 per annum, pro-rata, Bonus, plus 12-month contract

Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting on behalf of their prestigious client in Clydach, Swansea, for a Mechanical Engineer for a 12-month contract, which may become long-term or permanent.

The Mond Nickel Refinery, owned and operated by Vale Europe, recently celebrated 120 years of production and is one of the world's leading Nickel refineries. Vale is one of the world's largest mining companies, with operations in the UK, Asia, the USA, and across Europe.

Reporting to the Engineering Maintenance Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will support the overall maintenance operation. Responsibilities include providing effective support, subcontractor management, training, ensuring competencies and assets are maintained, reporting breakdowns, and coordinating work.

The successful candidate will have extensive mechanical/maintenance experience and be computer literate, with a working knowledge of SAP being essential.

The role requires the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, with the use of BA equipment for entry when necessary.

Applicants must have completed a four-year mechanical apprenticeship and have relevant work experience in a heavy industrial environment. Knowledge related to a nickel refinery or similar is advantageous. Experience with rotational equipment such as pumps, compressors, conveyors, elevators, and rotary kilns is essential.
