Mechanical Engineer

Overview

A leading manufacturer based in Port Talbot is seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join its maintenance team. Operating from a state-of-the-art facility, the company has seen consistent growth by delivering high-quality products for the personal care, healthcare, and pharmaceutical sectors. This role is essential in ensuring optimal performance and reliability of all site machinery, directly supporting production targets and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and carry out scheduled preventative maintenance.
  2. Respond quickly and effectively to mechanical breakdowns.
  3. Diagnose mechanical faults and conduct timely repairs.
  4. Maintain clear, accurate maintenance records and reports.
  5. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and statutory regulations.

Qualifications & Education
  1. Essential:
    1. Time-served Mechanical Apprenticeship.
    2. 5 or more GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A-C, including English, Science, and Mathematics.
  2. Desirable:
    1. HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
    2. Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence.
    3. Experience with machining and welding.

    1. Experience working in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment.
    2. Proven experience responding to mechanical breakdowns in a production setting.
    3. Strong hands-on, problem-solving ability.

    6. Self-motivated with strong organisational and time management skills.
    7. Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

    1. Experience working in a BRC-certified manufacturing environment.
