Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Plymouth, Devon + Hybrid Working Arrangements

Compensation: £43,935 + Benefits

The role

As aMechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Step into a dynamic and evolving environment where you'll oversee maintenance and supervise the installation and commissioning of new equipment. Play a vital role in ensuring efficiency, reliability, and operational excellence.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide technical assistance and guidance to ensure operational availability and maintenance. Support Facility Design Authorities in developing new designs and facility modifications, focusing on mechanical and fuel handling assets.

  • Maintain reference design documentation and asset configuration throughout their lifecycle.
  • Manage design development across the full lifecycle, including requirements, drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports.
  • Specify replacement equipment/components and support configuration documentation for permanent modifications.
  • Assist in implementing new designs through Factory Acceptance Testing and commissioning activities.
  • Conduct asset condition surveys and produce reports, including fault-finding on existing assets.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer

  • Extensive experience in engineering system design and substantiation.
  • Background in nuclear or other high-hazard environments.
  • Proficient in producing engineering documentation, including reports, specifications, and calculations.
  • Knowledge of cranes, lifting equipment, and crane operations, or experience with electro-mechanical/hydraulic systems.

Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer

  • Qualified to HND level in a mechanical engineering discipline.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
