About this Position:

Imagine contributing your mechanical engineering expertise to cutting-edge technology that’s redefining how energy is stored and delivered. An innovative engineering firm based in Oxfordshire is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Machinery) to support their high-tech development of next-generation battery systems.

This is a 3-month contract, with the potential to extend to 6 months, offering outside IR35 status and a competitive hourly rate. On-site, hands-on, and at the heart of engineering excellence, this role places you in a dynamic environment where precision and performance drive real-world impact.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with rotating machinery including mixers, motors, drives, and seals within a high-precision engineering setting.
  • Interpret and deliver work accurately from detailed engineering drawings.
  • Oversee mechanical assembly and ensure effective commissioning of complex equipment.
  • Apply a strong understanding of temperature cycles in mechanical design considerations.
  • Collaborate across technical teams to deliver robust, high-quality engineering solutions.
  • (Bonus) Liaise with suppliers and vendors to source components and resolve technical challenges.
Experience Required:
  • 5–10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally within a heavy engineering or high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Proven background in mechanical commissioning and working with rotating machinery.
  • Solid understanding of motors, seals, drives, and the influence of temperature on system performance.
