Job Title: Mechanical Engineer I

Location: Nottingham, MD

Mistral, Inc., headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I with 0-3 years of experience. Mistral Inc. is part of the Mistral Group, a collection of independent companies operating globally in various markets, dedicated to bridging operational gaps in the Defense and Law Enforcement sectors with innovative, high-readiness solutions.

This is a high-profile, hands-on role that involves collaboration with international teams.

Position Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer I will support business activities within the Business Unit(s) and execute assigned engineering tasks related to R&D projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Draft, modify, and update parts, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks.
  2. Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  3. Prepare and process engineering change order packages.
  4. Develop and refine technical mechanical parts and assembly drawings/models to accurately reflect design intent.
  5. Conduct peer and technical reviews of engineering designs and documentation.
  6. Assist the manufacturing floor with documentation and incorporate feedback.
  7. Develop DXF files for manufacturing use.
  8. Update drawings in the SolidWorks database and transfer data from other platforms like Inventor.
  9. Manage Technical Data Packages using SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks; knowledge of Inventor is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience designing with plastics, metals, or wood is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proactive attitude with creative thinking skills.
