At Cavendish Nuclear, we’re working to create a safe and secure world. Join us as a Mechanical Engineer at our Warrington, Leicester, or Preston sites.

The role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be part of our Cavendish Nuclear team, involved in decommissioning nuclear facilities, supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, and aiding the operation and build of nuclear power plants. Our mission is to clean up the nuclear legacy, contribute to national security, energy supply, and meet net zero commitments.

Our skilled team handles defence, decommissioning, new build, and nuclear generation projects, winning over 78% of recent tenders. We innovate to make nuclear safer, faster, and more cost-effective, supporting projects like Hinkley C, Sizewell C, and X Energy.

Duties include:
  1. Promote effective cooperation across engineering and other teams
  2. Manage customer relationships, interface on design issues, and assist with procurement specifications
  3. Ensure procedures, codes, and standards are correctly applied
  4. Contribute to Product Safety Assessment processes
  5. Provide technical interface with stakeholders
  6. Conduct technical investigations and analysis
  7. Contribute to process improvements in quality, cycle time, and asset utilization
  8. Apply engineering knowledge to produce technical solutions and documentation
Essential experience
  • Nuclear experience is not required; applications from all engineering backgrounds are welcome
  • Ownership and delivery skills, high performance, and the courage to challenge the status quo
  • Knowledge of CAD tools and general engineering drawing practices
  • Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
Qualifications
  • Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent experience

The successful candidate must hold or be able to achieve SC security clearance.
