NES Fircroft Engineering Services Limited seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support maintenance across offshore assets, with a focus on reliability and safety. You will work with Operations, Maintenance, Projects and Integrity teams to improve equipment performance.

The role is based in Norwich, with occasional travel to offshore sites. You will conduct RCFA, support shutdowns, and drive maintenance strategies and MoC processes.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent in Mechanical field or related discipline.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment in Oil & Gas or regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting both static and rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices and reliability improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering support across maintenance activities for offshore and onshore assets.
  • Investigate failures and perform RCFA to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Support shutdowns and outages; assist in maintenance strategies and MoC processes.
  • Review maintenance requirements and reduce backlogs; specify and procure equipment/services.
  • Utilise CMMS/Maximo and manage third-party vendors for cost-effective outcomes.

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking for your next opportunity within the Oil & Gas or energy sector?

We are currently recruiting for Mechanical Engineers to join the Maintenance team of a leading UK energy operator, supporting the safe and reliable operation of offshore gas assets across the Southern North Sea.

Excellent opportunities for experienced Mechanical Engineers to play a key role in improving the reliability, availability and performance of critical mechanical equipment, while working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Projects and Integrity teams.

The roles are based in Norwich, Monday to Friday, with occasional travel to onshore and offshore assets.

The Role

As Mechanical Engineer, you will provide specialist mechanical engineering support across a wide range of equipment and maintenance activities. You'll help identify equipment issues, improve reliability, reduce unplanned interventions and support the continued safe and efficient operation of the assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mechanical engineering support to Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Integrity and Metering teams
  • Provide engineering support during shutdowns, outages and maintenance activities
  • Investigate equipment failures and undertake Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance and efficiency
  • Support the development and implementation of maintenance strategies, routines and procedures
  • Review maintenance requirements and help reduce maintenance backlogs and unnecessary interventions
  • Specify, cost and procure replacement mechanical equipment and services
  • Support Management of Change (MoC) processes and ensure engineering documentation and equipment records are maintained
  • Monitor and manage third-party vendors and contractors, ensuring value and cost-effectiveness
  • Utilise electronic maintenance management systems such as Maximo
  • Carry out Site Assurance Surveys at onshore and offshore facilities
  • Provide technical guidance, support and training to technicians and junior personnel
What We're Looking For

We're looking for technically strong Mechanical Engineers with experience working with mechanical equipment within Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical or another highly regulated environment.

You should have:
  • An Engineering Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong operational knowledge of mechanical equipment within Oil & Gas or a similarly regulated industry
  • Experience supporting both static and rotating equipment
  • Good understanding of mechanical maintenance, reliability and engineering practices
  • Experience investigating equipment failures and identifying reliability improvements
  • Understanding of equipment specification and procurement
  • Experience working with CMMS / maintenance management systems, ideally Maximo
  • Knowledge of hazardous area equipment
  • Understanding of Management of Change processes
  • A proactive, safety-focused approach with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable Experience

Experience or knowledge of the following would be advantageous:

  • Valves and actuators
  • Pumps and compressors
  • Reciprocating equipment
  • Gas and diesel engines / generator sets
  • HVAC systems
  • Hydraulic systems
  • CompEx mechanical competence or equivalent
  • Offshore Oil & Gas production facilities
