Job Overview

We are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Humber Refinery during an exciting time in our history. This role offers a well‑supported but challenging career with engineering responsibilities that deliver real impact.

As a Mechanical Engineer at the Humber Refinery, you will combine excellent technical skills with practical awareness to contribute to the success of the business. You will work across different areas of the business, gaining and building experience and knowledge. The engineering team focuses on safe operation, long‑term reliability, fitness‑for‑service assessment, and specifying, purchasing and installing replacement equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Providing plant support and ensuring economic and engineering evaluation of potential projects and replacement equipment
  • Undertaking design, procurement and installation of small engineering projects (£0.5‑£1.5 million)
  • Understanding and evaluating equipment degradation mechanisms and deciding equipment maintenance and repair plans
  • Determining, justifying and implementing reliability projects
  • Evaluating and rerating piping and fixed equipment to ensure it is fit for service by hand calculations, finite element analysis, Caesar modelling, etc.
